Aloe vera quantity - how much gel should I take?
What is the optimum aloe vera quantity for my situation? Here, I provide some guidelines to the quantity of Aloe vera gel needed to support the body. These instructions are based on those circulated by the Forever Living® Company. Their gel is full strength, thick and contains plant fibres. If you suspect your product is less concentrated, you are likely to need more than described here.
Aloe vera gel and detoxification
First, the gel will help your digestive system detoxify. This means it will encourage your system to pass
unwanted residues from refined foods and so on.
The aloe is cleansing your digestive system and helping
other systems of your body to work more effectively.
For more on this process, check out the
'Detoxification' section.
It is important to go through this stage to ensure your digestive system can absorb the nutrients in the gel when you reduce the aloe vera quantity you take. Signs that this is happening include increased frequency of bowel movements. Stools may become more offensive for a few days. You may also experience a slight worsening of symptoms, increased perspiration and more stongly smelling, darker urine. It is good to drink plenty at this time: 2 litres a day is recommended. The changes will return to normal in a few days.

- Increase the intake to 30mls morning and night—fifteen minutes before your evening meal for a further three days
- Continue to increase in 30 ml steps until you notice a detox response. For most people this happens on 3 to 4 30ml servings per day.
- Continue to use the first bottle at this level.

If you want the Aloe to support your body when you have a specific illness, you may need to remain on a higher does for longer. Do so as long as symptoms are improving. When they have improved — and stabilised — you may begin to reduce the quantity of gel (see 5 above). Aloe vera gel is not a medicine. It is a dietary supplement that contains a cocktail of very potent nutrients. Once your body is better nourished it will be able to take care of itself better. That means you should start to feel better in yourself, and the problem symptoms will subside. The usual time for benefit to show is from 1 to 3 months. If you have tried the product for three months with no success, it is unlikely to be of benefit to continue. There may be other approaches - or different supplements - to consider. Increasing the aloe vera quantity will usually not help at this stage. Finding supplement better suited to your needs might.
